Sarah Palin & Hillary Clinton One on One

Finally the much awaited Sarah Palin & Hillary Clinton one on one, together............

SNL is really cool, better than watching the actual coverage and Goebbels type political ad where straight talk seems to be not as straight where stroking the truth is the order of the day.

Ninoy Aquino's 25th Death Anniversary

So we don't forget the sacrifice and martyrdom of Ninoy Aquino in our quest for freedom and democracy. A martyr who once said that the Filipinos are worth dying for, let not his dreams and aspirations die with him.............

Looking at where we are and the kind of corrupted political leadership that we have are we, the Filipinos worth dying for?

Justice for Tara Bosch Santelices

TaraBoschSantelices

How can anyone be subjected to a horrible crime and those who witnessed the horrible incident be so consumed with apathy and shameless inaction that their demeanor posed more danger to the victim is just unbelievable. Would they have reacted the same if they witnessed the same on their own sister, mother, daughter or even a distant acquaintance?

Tara Bosch Santelices had the misfortune on the eve of her 23rd birthday to be on the receiving end of a criminal hold up with a single gunshot smashing her right forehead pointblank. She is now fighting for her life in a coma in the ICU of Medical City Hospital in Pasig City, attached to a respirator machine. A victim of armed robbery shot in the left forehead shattering her skull and dreams of a promising life of creativity as a musical artist (lead guitarist of Saffron Speedway) and budding Indie film director.

To make matter worse her assailant was able to escape and the jeepney driver drove as if he was on his usual route taking his sweet time and even had the audacity to stop at the other passengers destination. The passengers alighted and asked the drivers to stop at their designated spot so callously numb and uncaring at the risk and unmindful of the life and death emergency of Tara just went about their ways .

Upon reaching a clinic that is not equipped to handle such emergency the jeepney driver drove off without even caring what happened to the victim.

The Cainta Police are even worse and so inept that it took them a day to interview Joee Mejias the witness companion of Tara who was with her all the while agonizing at how this is happening to her friend.

We can let Tara Bosch Santelices and other victims of crime suffer yet another numbing apathy and let her and her family suffer in pain alone or we can act now by calling the attention of our lawmakers to enact laws so that tragic event like these do not occur again. We can also call on the law enforcement agencies to step up their investigation and there is a petition that we can sign here.

If you want to contribute to a fund for Tara’s recovery, here are the details:

Anne Marie F. Santelices, Banco de Oro, SA 2140-062201. For direct cash donations, please proceed to the ICU Waiting Room of the Medical City (Ortigas Avenue, Pasig City). Please look for Joee Mejias or Lila Santelices.

Lastly, please let everyone you know about the plight of Tara Bosch Santelices, by emailing this or writing a blog about it or any other way to raise awareness on the issue of public safety in public transportation, she needs all the support she can get at this point and sometimes miracle do happen when good people wish and pray for her speedy recovery.

For inquiries, please contact Joee Mejias (09228154987) for calls and Jac Ledonio (09167243071) or Myka Francisco (09163695148) for text messages.

A Call to Action – BLOGSWARM Towards Maritime Safety

Join the BLOGSWARM Towards Maritime Safety to create awareness on the state of Maritime travel in the Philippines. The poor sector are affected the most and exploited by greedy shipping line owners made worse by corruption. There is a need for bloggers to come together to improve the situation on the following:

  • The Philippines being composed of 7,107 islands maritime is the major form of transportation of the majority of the poor people.

  • The industry is poorly regulated with so many agencies involved but lacking in equipment necessary to make maritime voyage safe and secure.

  • Poorly managed shipping lines and poor regulation by so many government agencies.

  • Poor record keeping by the shipping lines such as passenger manifest, overcrowding, inadequate life saving equipment and carrying toxic material cargoes in passenger vessels sacrificing passenger safety over profitability.

  • Poorly funded infrastructure such as lighthouses, global positioning devices and distress signal system, rescue vessels for immediate response.

  • Lack of political will to comply with International Maritime Organization safety and liability standards. Not as single maritime casualty investigation report has been submitted to the organization despite having a Filipino elected as secretary general as mandated under the terms of its membership.

  • Passengers and ships are poorly insured lacking P&I coverage due to the ships poor condition.
Disasters in the sea not only affect the passengers, crews, and their relatives but other sectors such as subsistence fisherman unable to make a living off the sea due to consumer fears of tainted sea foods not just from toxic chemicals but the dead victims as well. Local municipalities surrounding the disaster sites where victims bodies are washed on their shores are having a hard time responding to the problem whose meager resources are further depleted.

Unless and until we see a strong desire and political will for accountable good governance we are stuck in the muck of pathetic corrupt governance. We have seen enough disasters and to this day the latest of which is the M/V Princess of the Stars, the list of some of the biggest civilian maritime disasters below should have given us a coherent government policy and political will to safeguard the passengers’ safety and well being:

  • Dec. 20, 1987: In the world's worst peacetime shipping disaster, 4,340 people drown when the ferry Dona Paz collides with the tanker MT Victor in the Philippines.
  • Oct. 1988: The Dona Marilyn ferry sinks in the central Philippines during a typhoon, killing 250.
  • Dec. 1994: A freighter slams the ferry Cebu City in Manila Bay, drowning at least 34 and leaving more than 100 of about 600 passengers missing. Rescuers pluck about 450 people from the sea, many coated in the diesel oil disgorged as the ferry sank.
  • Dec. 1995: Dozens are killed when the overloaded MV Kimelody Cristy catches fire off Fortune Island, southwest of Manila.
  • Feb. 1996: An overcrowded wooden ferry, ML Gretchen, capsizes close to shore of central Negros island, killing 54, including 31 children, and leaving 12 missing.
  • Aug. 15, 1997: The King Rogers, a sightseeing boat, sinks after being battered by strong winds and big waves, killing four Hong Kong tourists and 12 Filipinos. About 75 others are reporting missing.
  • Sept. 1998: The Princess of the Orient ferry tilts in storm-whipped waters near Batangas province south of Manila, leaving 70 dead and 80 others missing.
  • Dec. 1999: An overloaded MV Asia South Korea ferry sinks in the central Philippines, killing at least 51 people, including several Nepalese students. More than 700 others are rescued.
  • April 2000: The wooden-hulled Annahada ferry capsizes shortly after leaving southern Jolo Island, killing at least 87 people. Dozens of others are reported missing.
  • April 2002: Wind-swept flames engulf a packed inter-island ferry in the central Philippines, killing at least 23 and sparking panic among its 290 passengers and crew, some still waking up at the end of a 12-hour overnight trip. More than 90 are injured and 13 reported missing.
  • Feb. 2004: A bomb believed to have been planted by al-Qaida-linked Abu Sayyaf extremists explode aboard the Superferry 14 near Manila Bay, igniting an inferno that kills 116 people in Southeast Asia's second-worst terrorist attack.
  • June 21, 2008: The MV Princess of the Stars, a 23,824-ton ferry, capsizes off central Sibuyan Island in a typhoon. Villagers find six bodies, while only four survivors are found in the initial hours of search efforts.

Pedestrian Observer GB: Ces Drillon Abduction & the Blame Game People Play

It seems there are a number of people in the Philippines and this is not just the administration people that has a tendency to blame the victim than the perpetrator.

What is sad is that no one can really say with certainty who is holding ABS-CBN Journalist Ces Drillon, crew member Angelo Valderama, and Peace Advocate Mindanao State University Professor Ocatavio Dinampo.

Is it the dreaded Abu Sayyaf Group or the military scalawags as claimed by Maramma Hasim the driver hired by Ces Drillon?

Señora Metring Speaks on ZTE Deal or No Deal

This national boardband network is getting to my nerves, you know. I’m really paid up with all the scenic investigations. So much adieu about nothing.

First, owing to executive free village, CHED Chairman Romulo Neri snapped the scenic invitation. Second, came Jun Lozada who is president of Phil-forest with missing trees on his head.

Then there’s the crying boy sournamed Santos who confessed to I forgot what. There’s also Engineer Madriaga who collaborated Lozada’s confession. However, this Madriaga is allegedly a throwjan horse from Malacanang because he throws and throws information just like that.

But what gets my gloat is this attempt of kidnapping and abdication at the airport. If they can do that to Jun Lozada then they can easily do that to ordinary mortars like us.

All these things are happening because of that 200 million as bride of former Comelec Chairman Abalos to Neri.. But that is just a drop in the pocket since the 329 million dollars ZTE contract is fantastically overpriced and vulcanized, you know.

So now we have to draw the light. The evil one should step down for she has no more mural ascendancy. But we cannot afford a coup data because it is anathema to economic progress.

So if the president will not submit to a snipe election then we should cease and decease in all these nonsensical talks and let’s foot our act together.

Don’t forget that history remits itself and the only impedient for evil to success is for good men to nothing doing. But if you disagree with me then just bag off. Okay?

Pedestrian Observer GB supports Petition Demanding Transparency

The blogger team of Pedestrian Observer GB supports the demand for transparency in Philippine governance by Team RP in their petition and call for the passage of a Philippine Access to Information Law.

****************************** start copy & paste to your email

Dear Friends and Fellow Filipinos,

Good day to you! :)

In light of the recent spate of scandals and allegations of corruption in our government, we at Team RP believe that the call for Truth and Accountability in our government should not stop in the investigations that are being conducted by our Senate, Ombudsman and our Judicial System but this should also be complemented with a push for a Philippine Access to Information Law that would help prevent future graft and corruption practices by many of our government officials from happening again. By enacting this law, ordinary Filipinos will now be able to access public documents which would narrate what kind of agreements our government enters into on behalf of the Filipino people and at the same time show us how our public funds are spent. This will increase transparency in our government and will further hold our government leaders and officials accountable for their actions.

In line with this, we are launching a Signature Campaign to help convince our lawmakers towards prioritizing the immediate passing and implementation of this law. Here is Team RP's petition on pushing for a Philippine Access to Information Law:

"Secrecy breeds irregularity, fraud and crime. It allows chicanery, graft and corruption… A democracy based on ignorance, on misinformation, on conjectures, on suspicion is doomed to fail. The more enlightened the people have, the more guarantee there is for their success in their collective enterprises, and in the fulfillment of their social aspirations and purposes."

From the de Venecia-Lozada expose, the Hello Garci scandal and the Spratlys mind-boggler to the North and South Rail questions, events of the recent past clearly highlight how very little we know about the workings of our government, how much difficulty is involved in getting truth to come out and how, albeit fundamental in any republican and democratic state that the government is accountable to the public, we Filipinos are in reality denied direct access to our government institutions and our public servants. As a country that prides itself with democracy, it strikes us with a disquieting reality that we Filipinos have no real access to information to empower us to properly and actively participate in governance.

We in TEAM RP believe that in order for there to be a responsible citizenry that can actively and meaningfully craft the future of the country, there is a need to give teeth to the policy of full public disclosure and the right of the people to be informed as contained in the fundamental law of the land. Moreover, we are aware that if people, especially those who have been bypassed by development, are unaware of laws and procedures for availing themselves of their entitlements or of mechanisms they can use to remedy their plight, then they will always remain poor.

Let us call on our lawmakers to make top priority the passage of a Philippine Access to Information Law which, subject to reasonable and clearly outlined conditions, ensures unfettered access of the people to information of public concern, including government transactions involving public interest.

We urge our lawmakers, let us not delay this any further.

************************************************** end of statement

If you support our petition and call for the passage of a Philippine Access to Information Law, you can join and help us in any of the following ways:

a.) Sign our petition online by emailing
"I Support the Campaign for a Philippine Access to Information Law" together with your complete name and contact information to team.rp.pail@gmail.com

b.) Forward this email to your friends and post this email in your website, blog, friendster, multiply or facebook account for all your friends to read.

c.) Volunteer for our campaign and help us get more Filipinos to sign our petition. If you want to volunteer and help, you can email Karen Naranjo at k_ren_naranjo@yahoo.com or you can send her a text message at 0918-9183685. We will send you copies of our petition so you can also help gather signatures in your school, office or organization.

Thank you for your time in reading this email. We hope that you will consider joining Team RP's movement for Truth, Accountability and Reform in our country.

May you have a pleasant day ahead! :)

Sincerely,

Harvey S. Keh

The Mole

Todays joke at Neal Cruz column As I See It

Three surgeons are boasting about their respective surgical skills.

“I operated on the leg of a man,” said the orthopedic surgeon, “and now he is a champion marathon runner.”

“I operated on the heart of a man,” said the cardiac surgeon, “and now he is an Olympic gold medalist in decathlon.”

“That’s nothing,” said the cosmetic surgeon. “I put a mole on the cheek of a dwarf, and now she is the President!"

Gloria Macapagal Arroyo RESIGN!

The 22nd anniversary of the EDSA People Power “revolution” is a time once more to remember the courage and determination of the Filipino people risking lives and limbs against the onslaught of the military monsters of the Marcos conjugal dictatorship. In lieu of this event and the shameless impunity of corruption and arrogant administration of Gloria M. Arroyo the commemoration of EDSA People Power & Gloria RESIGN! Blogswarm is the most logical approach for a blogger who belives in holding elected officials accountable and responsible for their misdeeds. Grab this image Gloria RESIGN! Blogswarm, but don't forget to attribute POGB

The assassination of Benigno Aquino gave rise to a spontaneous movement before which countless sacrifice of patriots costing numerous lives loss especially of the youths who would have been great leaders of today. The tyranny of one man has ended, unfortunately we are now faced not just with one corrupt strongman, but a mutation of little tyrants imposing their will on the people bringing us further down the muck of desperation and desolation.

Today 22 years later it seems we have not gone anywhere but retrogressed further in an administration with questionable tenure ironically finding herself in the highest seat of the land through a similar “people power” that turns out to be nothing more than a power grab to replace the corrupt Estrada regime with an equally if not more corrupt administration.

How can we allow this transgression is beyond belief considering this woman is the daughter of a former president who you would think will not taint her father’s refutation and honor? While there is an increasing demand from different sectors for accountability and imploring the government people not to impede our quest for truth there are still stragglers seeing a different reality? Is it because they are suffering from Stockholm syndrome or paid hacks?

The question of accountability and responsibility which is expected in a person of elective position amazingly has people wanting her to remain in office due to their fear of another crook taking over is just insane. Let us not dwell on the moronic outlook and instead look ahead which is definitely not a La Gloria “move on” crap.

We definitely need to commemorate EDSA People Power and Erwin Rafael of Ako si Paeng suggested an apt acronym for the Gloria RESIGN! Blogswarm. POGB is sharing the image below (right click & click save as, attribution appreciated) to bloggers joining the move to rid the nation of corrupt shameless politicians.

Grab the image EDSA Wave 1.0Marvin Bionat of Philippine Update has come up with a novel approach to those that cannot make it physically to the mass actions to light a virtual candle. I believe this will be a hit especially to Overseas Filipinos who wants to express their sentiments on the following:
  • For integrity in government
  • For the pursuit of the unvarnished truth behind the current political scandals
  • For the prosecution of corrupt public officials
  • For the immediate resignation of political leaders who have lost the moral authority to govern
  • For the estabishment of a government that truly represents the interests of the nation
  • For the political and economic empowerment of the Filipino people

You can click on the link which will bring you to a fill up form with your name, email addy & allows you a 10 word comment or email Marvin, go check it out.

The Doctor's Vote

When a panel of doctors was asked to vote on adding a new wing to their hospital, the Allergists voted to scratch it and the Dermatologists advised not to make any rash moves.

The Gastroenterologists had sort of a gut feeling about it, but the Neurologists thought the administration had a lot of nerve, and the Obstetricians felt they were all laboring under a misconception.

The Ophthalmologists considered the idea short-sighted; the Pathologists yelled, 'Over my dead body', while the Pediatricians said, 'Oh, Grow up!'

The Psychiatrists thought the whole idea was madness, the Radiologists could see right through it, and the Surgeons decided to wash their hands of the whole thing.

The Internists thought it was a bitter pill to swallow, and the Plastic Surgeons said, 'This puts a whole new face on the matter."

The Podiatrists thought it was a step forward, but the Urologists felt the scheme wouldn't hold water.

The Anesthesiologists thought the whole idea was a gas and the Cardiologists didn't have the heart to say no.

In the end, the Proctologists left the decision up to some asshole in administration.

Pedestrian Observer a victim of Cyber Hitman?

Pedestrian Observer has been blocked by blogger and was “identified” as a possible spam….. say what a spam? Is Pedestrian Observer a victim of cyber hitman?

The blog does not have any advertisement whatsoever in any form or manner that will give the owner any material or financial gain.

All the links and those linking to Pedestrian Observer are legitimate links; no one was forced or coerced to link Pedestrian Observer to their blog or site so it is definitely not a robot. An actual person in the name of Political Jaywalker has been blogging and 183 posts later since March ’07 it was surprising that all of a sudden it was being tagged as a spam.

Now that Pedestrian Observer has been transformed into a group blog with other contributors now writing for the blog in our drive to make it a relevant socio-political blog we encounter an incident that is annoying at best.

Is it possible some person or entity resented what Pedestrian Observer is all about.... a critic of the mal-administration and corruption in the Philippines or is it something else?

Are the crooked politicians starting to notice the blog and true to their perverted sense of leadership in the Mafiosi mob style ordered a cyber hitman to silence Pedestrian Observer?

I was wondering if this has anything to do with our campaign supporting good governance in Pampanga and what Among Ed stood for that triggered this annoying “spam” block. Heck the spam I know are the one’s we love to eat despite it being maligned by food snobs.

This incident only serves have a firm resolve for the blog to continue on and will be back with more exciting write-ups to hopefully to make a dent or difference in whatever manner in our quest for good governance in the land of cheats.

We have been there before just like the previous threat I posted titled EXTRA! Cyber Istambay Threatened with LIBEL!, and Pedestrian Observer is still here and will be here to stay for awhile. Get over it cyber hitman....... refute the articles in the comment section that is unmoderated as I don't believe in censorship, let it out not put the blog out..... that is just LOW, REALLY LOW.
